Hear it comes again….the 28th annual Button Factory Open Studios, one of the oldest and most eagerly anticipated holiday arts events on the Seacoast. Some of the finest artist and craftsmen in the Seacoast have studios at the Button Factory, Portsmouth’s original center for arts and crafts.

Hear it comes again….the 28th annual Button Factory Open Studios, one of the oldest and most eagerly anticipated holiday arts events on the Seacoast. Some of the finest artist and craftsmen in the Seacoast have studios at the Button Factory, Portsmouth’s original center for arts and crafts.
This yearly opportunity to visit the artists, explore their private studios, and purchase their work will occur on December 5, 6, and 7. These artists have earned prominence in their fields and represent a range of disciplines, including painting, photography, jewelry, art furniture and bookbinding. Joining them on Saturday and Sunday will be artists and craftsmen from all over New England who have been selected by a jury for this event.
The weekend kicks off Friday evening with a preview of the Open Studios and music by The Ambassadors, a jazz band from the Portsmouth Music and Art Center. The public is welcome to join the artists and their friends.
On Saturday and Sunday juried artists join the excitement with booths set up throughout the sprawling, three-level former factory building. Explore the various studios and you will find that each one reflects the artist’s creative personality. Follow the labyrinth of hallways and discover a truly eclectic group of over 70 artists and craftspeople displaying unique handcrafted items. Among this year’s offerings are paintings, pottery, jewelry, handmade furniture, fine art photography, scarves and wearables, birdhouses, fiber arts and much more.
